7 Fall habits that make the season feel like a Warm Hug

Fall habits that make the season feel like a Warm Hug

On a random walk to the park, I noticed the fall leaves on the ground, and it hit me: I’m already approaching fall! Time flies like a bird!

There is something about looking at those fall leaves that got me sitting and thinking in the park about how it’s almost the end of the year soon, and I didn’t realize how fast this year just went by.

I think that’s the beauty of the fall season. It gets you wondering about the fast-paced life and creates a need to slow down and be more present before the year ends…

If you agree with my thoughts, then let’s implement some fall habits this year to help us slow down and get cozy this autumn!

I have shared 7 fall habits that I will be following to make the most of the time I have before the year ends, and these habits are so regulating for our nervous system, I kid you not!!

7 Fall habits that make the season feel like a Warm Hug

1. Add Warm Drinks Into Your Routine

Ideally, drinking room-temperature to warm drinks every day is considered best for our health. it is said that our body reacts best to that, not to extremely cold or extremely hot drinks!

But with the summer heat, it’s challenging to avoid iced drinks. As we approach fall, though, we can slowly start adding warmer drinks into our routine, maybe one drink at a time.

Personally, I usually start with a warm glass of water right after waking up in the morning and end with a warm bedtime drinks like spearmint tea or chamomile tea!

Even a cup of warm coffee or matcha during the day helps slowly make that shift, giving warmth to my body while romanticizing my cozy drink routine!

2. Add Fall Whimsical Hobbies

Being whimsical is the new trend nowadays, isn’t it? I honestly love it!

Being whimsical is all about making ordinary things meaningful, getting your creativity back just for the fun of it, and not to be more “productive” or “skilled.”

Some of my favorite hobbies for fall season are:

  • Reading books under my cozy blanket
  • Coloring or painting
  • Baking, which leads me to my next point…

3. Bake Fall Desserts

I feel baking is most enjoyed in fall, at least for me and I love making apple stewed bowls with cinnamon, banana bread, or enjoying some fig cake and tarts!

I would love to bake something and share it with my family and friends this year!

4. Create a Fall Environment at Home

Set a cozy fall vibe at home by switching to warmer lights, playing a fall-inspired playlist in the background, and maybe lighting some scented candles or diffusers that make you feel warm and cozy.

You can even spice things up by adding fall decorations to your favorite chilling corner!

5. Make Time for Reflection and New Beginnings

Fall habits

One of my favorite things to do in fall is to sit and take a moment to reflect on how my life has changed over the past few months, and to start thinking about the little changes I want to embody for the coming year!

A few things I love to sit and journal about are:

  1. A gratitude list. Things that went well and blessings I feel grateful for.
  2. Challenges and learning. We often don’t realize how much we went through and how those experiences made us stronger. For me, this year’s lesson was surrender and releasing control. I used to feel so anxious trying to control everything, and when things didn’t go as planned, it would mess with my mental health. This year was all about transitions and uncertainty, and it forced me to swim through it rather than drown in anxiety. By mid-June, I finally felt myself releasing that anxiety and focusing on what I actually had control over.
  3. 1-2 intentions for the coming months. I like to set 1-2 things to focus on, depending on my goals, that help me slowly build momentum toward the life I want. Baby steps…

6. Cook Warmer Fall Seasonal Foods

If you love cooking, fall season often brings new and interesting delicious recipes that just feel like a warm hug.

I remember my friend would host a dinner, and we would sit in her courtyard around sunset and have these delicious meals in fall.

7. Romanticize the Season

Lastly, I think it’s all truly about romanticizing the ordinary things in life that add more meaning and joy. Fall is truly that season where we need to appreciate the small things like:

  • Autumn leaves
  • A warm cup of coffee or hot spicy chai
  • Reading something
  • Going for a walk and enjoying bits of the weather
