Drinking more water is essential for our body to stay healthy and function. We all know our body consists of 80% water/liquid. It needs to be hydrated enough- not less and not too much!

However, it is such a simple task, that we all tend to struggle with getting hydrated!

I have struggled with drinking water ever since I was young, I would forget about it, and even when I felt thirsty, for some reason, I would find it difficult to drink water.

In fact, even now, I do without the tricks I share below, I am not following them, and I seem to get dehydrated.

Before I share my best tips with you, I want to share something about getting more liquids.

Now, we know water is the best way to stay hydrated and get more liquids in our body, but it is not the only way.

If you struggle with drinking water because of its taste, don’t worry because the idea is to get hydrating liquids in your body!

It can be water or something else that is hydrating and in liquid form!

1. Add fruits to your water – Smoothies

One of my favorite ways to get more liquid in my body, especially right in the morning- is smoothies!

I love drinking when it is not just plain water! Smoothies are super tasty and the perfect way to start your day with hydration.

You can have smoothies in your breakfast or as a snack, and it will help you get your liquid 

the trick for me is to add water to my smoothie instead of milk! I do add a splash of coconut milk at times, but otherwise, I don’t!

most fruits have 70% water in them, and when you blend them all and make a nice smoothie, you get the benefits of the fruits, and also get your liquid in!

Make sure you don’t add dehydrating things to it

2. Add fruits and veggies to make a detox water

Apart from smoothies, and great way to drink more water every day, is by making detox water that you can sip throughout the day if you don’t like drinking plain water!

I like to add orange sometimes, or lemon and even cucumber with mint to make a nice-flavored water to sip most of the day!

It just tastes good and helps you stay hydrated!

3. Add veggies to make juices

Having a glass or one jar of juice full of nourishing green leafs like cilantro, spinach, cucumber is a another way to get antioxidants in your body and also liquid in!

So if in the middle of the day, you feel like you need a bit more water but do not want to have plain water, just make a juice and have it

4. Have matcha or herbal tea instead of coffee or black tea


Many of us sip coffee or black tea at least once a day for some, it is more than once!

I personally tend to drink as well, and one of the switches I have made is making herbal tea or matcha instead of caffeine.

Herbal teas are again super hydrating and full of antioxidants that benefit our body – matcha is a great alternative to coffee when you like caffeine.

5. Take account of water consumption

Another essential way to drink more water is to just take into account your water consumption.

Often, we don’t even know how many glasses we drink in a day and end up getting dehydrated.

Remember you need to drink only enough water, not too much or too little!

Ideally, half your body weight in oz is the amount of water/liquid intake you need to have!

6. Have 1 glass of water first thing in the morning

Some people start their day with coffee or tea, while our body gets dehydrated when we go to sleep for 7 hours.

As our body is constantly working to recover and for 7 hours we have no water intake.

We wake up dehydrated, and on top of it, if you drink coffee or black tea, that is going to make you even more dehydrated!

Always have at least 1 glass of warm water/normal in the morning to replenish and get some hydration.

If you drink 1-2 glasses of water as soon as you wake, you already have some hydration in the morning, and for the rest of the day, you can continue to get more through smoothies, juice, or juice as well.

7. Take a large water bottle on the go

One of the best ways I have managed to drink more water every day is by always carrying a large water bottle with me.

I keep it beside me all the time, which helps me sip water throughout the day!

Many of us don’t drink water because we do not have it right beside us! We need to get up and go to the kitchen, or maybe we are traveling, and there is no bottle.

If you make it a habit to keep a bottle around you all the time, you will definitely drink more than before!

8. Stock up on veggies and fruits.

Here is a fun fact! Most of our fruits and vegetables have a high percentage of water content and anti-oxidants!

Include them in your meals mainly – breakfast and lunch and get your hydration!

  • Strawberries
  • Melons such as watermelon, honeydew and cantaloupe
  • Pineapple
  • Oranges
  • Peaches
  • Broccoli
  • Celery
  • Bell peppers
  • Lettuce
  • Cucumbers

9. Have most water in the first half of your day

This is more of a tip to help you drink water or liquid the right way! Aim to get the most amount of your water in the first half of your day!

By 1-2pm, aim to get the most liquid intake, whether by drinking a lot of water, or having a smoothie and juice.

Then, in the second half of the day, drink comparatively less water, so you can sleep at night without disturbance!

10. Add Reminders

Lastly, on How to drink more water every day, if you tend to forget about your water intake due to busy life

Add reminders on your phone! This will keep you informed on how much water you need.

For me I like to get my water intake like this-

  • 1-2 glasses of warm water as soon as i wake up
  • a big jar of Smoothie as breakfast
  • Matcha tea after that
  • keep a water bottle in the office beside me
  • Juice sometimes in the morning
  • Detox water when staying at home!
